The goddess of beauty. She took me forever! Oh my gosh! Pain in derriere, this manipulation. It was like all my muse went to Hera.
Role In Mythology:
Aphrodite was the Goddess of love, beauty, pleasure and procreation. She was seen as one of the more timid goddesses. She was born of the sea when Cronos cut off Ouranus' genitals and threw them in to the sea. From the sea foam rose Aphrodite.
When Eris left her golden apple labeled To The Fairest, Aphrodite insisted it was for her. Athena and Hera also wished for the apple. All three goddesses are, of course, fair and the fairest was the only hint to who Eris wanted the apple to go to. They went to Paris, a mortal man, so he could decide who won the apple. But Paris couldn't choose. Athena promised him endless wisdom, fame and glory in battle if he chose her. Hera promised control over all of Asia and Europe. Aphrodite whispered in his ear, "If you choose me, I will give you the love and loyalty of the most beautiful maiden of the world." Paris immediately went with her bribe.
The most beautiful woman in the world was Helen of Troy, who was, unfortunately for Paris, already married to King Menelaus of Sparta. The marriage between Paris and Helen caused The Trojan War. The war was ten years of death and chaos.
Symbols Used: Scallop shells and the ocean. Those were actually the only two symbols I used, since the model is beautiful and everybody has their own idea of what she looked like. I'll let you decide what love is.
